About Video Clip Directory

Video Clip Directory (VCD) is a simple place to create and save time-coded YouTube clips (start/end in seconds) into a searchable directory. Think of it as a library of “moments” you can quickly find, share, and reuse.

We don’t host videos. Clips play via the official YouTube embed player and remain on YouTube.

Quick Start

  1. Paste a YouTube URL (optionally “at current time”).
  2. Use SET start and SET end.
  3. Add a title + tags, then Save.
  4. Browse, search, and export clips when you need them.

What is a “Clip” in VCD?

A clip is simply a reference to a YouTube video plus a start and end time. VCD stores the video ID, timestamps, and metadata (like title/tags/category) so you can search and reuse that exact moment later.

What is this site for?

  • Discovery: find great moments fast using tags and search.
  • Reference: save “proof points”, quotes, tutorials, highlights.
  • Curation: build a personal stash of clips for future projects.
  • Export: move clips into Video Chain Maker to build full chains.

VCD + Video Chains + Video Chain Maker

VCD is designed to work alongside the broader Video Chains ecosystem: a way to stitch multiple clips into a guided viewing experience.

Video Clip Directory (VCD)
Capture and store single clips. Search them. Export them.
Video Chain Maker (VCM)
Turn multiple clips into a “chain” — a sequence of segments that plays in order.
VideoChains.com
The home of published chains: curated playlists of time-coded segments.

So… what is a Video Chain?

A Video Chain is a sequence of short clips (from one or many videos) that plays like a guided story. Instead of sending someone a 40-minute video and saying “skip to 12:34”, a chain lets you present the best moments in the best order — perfect for tutorials, reviews, education, entertainment, and “watch this next” experiences.

Export to JSON (for Video Chain Maker)

VCD can export a clip as a JSON file. That JSON can be imported into Video Chain Maker so you can assemble clips into a chain without re-entering times.

  • Export a clip from the directory (Export JSON).
  • Import it into Video Chain Maker.
  • Combine multiple clips into one chain.

Why JSON?

JSON is a clean, portable format. It’s easy to store, share, and move between tools. It also makes it possible for you to build your own workflows later (bulk import/export, backups, clip packs, and more).

What we do

  • Store time-coded clip references (video ID + start/end).
  • Let you search clips by title, tags, and category.
  • Play clips using official embeds.
  • Offer JSON export for use in Video Chain Maker.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t host or upload videos.
  • We don’t remove YouTube branding, ads, or controls.
  • We don’t claim ownership of any referenced content.
  • We don’t provide a download tool.

Ready to create your first clip?

Paste a YouTube URL, set your start/end, and save it to the directory. Later, export JSON to build chains in Video Chain Maker.
